Gompers Park Party Tomorrow Night!

Saw this on NextDoor just now, happening on the 19th:
Join us at Gompers Park for a FREE night out of live Latin music and dancing from 5:30pm to 7:00pm. Bring the whole family - and a picnic, too!

The Gompers Park Advisory Council will offer a musical instrument craft for the children to make and take home. Don't miss this special night out in our unique, urban oasis - Gompers Park!
According to the Chicago Park District website, the band playing will be the all-female Puerto Rican ensemble Las BomPleneras.  Their Facebook page is here, and if that doesn't excite the feminist in you, check out this YouTube video of their performance from Old Town Folk and Roots Music Festival in 2011.

Come to the Ecuadorian Association's Block Party on June 27th!

There will be dancing, a talent show, and generally positive loitering on the block given this is also a Ceasefire event planned by both Danny and Edwin.

Food and snacks is still up in the air, though we are working with Lindo Michoacan and Jerusalem Liquors, and plan on getting other local businesses involved. That said, would be a good opportunity for food trucks to stop by. *hint, hint!!!*

The block party should only close Albany up to the first alley, so traffic needing to get on Albany can still go through the alley or through Gunnison.
